About the Position

The Head of Operations oversees Methodical’s day-to-day operations and its people for both our cafe and roasting departments. They will work with our GMs, Managers, and Leads to optimize our daily activities, processes, systems, and metrics that drive our efficiency and standards of quality, as well as lead our people by overseeing recruitment and training, personal growth and development, handling conflicts, and cultivating our team culture. They will work alongside our CFO to track spending and manage budgets. And work alongside our co-owners to help us realize our company vision for hospitality and culture.

About the Role

Lead Our People

  • Develop and oversee systems and processes for recruitment and training of new employees
  • Oversee the effective use of team member resources across cafes and roastery with effective scheduling and capacity planning
  • Work with GMs, Managers, and team leads to ensure high productivity and quality of work
  • Oversee the process of team member professional development including our assessment process
  • Shape the work environment through developing processes and programs for recognition and reward, navigating conflict resolution, and when necessary, termination
  • Develop process for ensuring staff follows health and safety regulations

Operating & Organizing

  • Oversee the company’s day-to-day operations
  • Evaluate and identify areas of improvement and efficiencies
  • Set policies and processes and ensure they’re followed
  • Work with CFO and owners on managing departmental budget and overseeing spending
  • Manage all software and IT solutions
  • Partner with CFO to oversee the overall financial performance, primarily labor and production costs


  • Meet the demands of growth by identifying needs before they’re needed 
  • Work with leadership to develop goals and path to meeting goals
  • Work with and collaborate with other GMs, managers, and leads
  • Identify new opportunities and oversee their R&D 
  • Above all else, do your part in achieving our goal of excellent customer experiences

Job Type

  • Full-time
  • Monday-Friday
  • Located on site at our cafes as well as at our HQ in Travelers Rest

About You

  • Have a deep love for efficiency and serving people
  • Hold a degree in business administration, management, HR, or similar
  • 5+ years overseeing operations, high level management, or a similar role
  • Proven track record of successfully leading people and teams
  • Embody strong leadership and management skills and the ability to motivate and retain staff
  • A subject matter expert in process improvement, organizational design, and management/measurement systems
  • Deep love for the qualitative and quantitative
  • Effective communicator both written and oral
  • Well-organized and self motivated
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize effectively and delegate when appropriate
