Methodical Coffee is a gourmet coffee business based in Greenville, SC. We have three cafes and a production facility where we roast coffee and produce our other products. Please read the description before applying.

About the role

The Production Roaster is responsible for production coffee roasting, receiving deliveries of green coffee, and tasks related to production workflow and roastery cleanliness.

Essential Functions

  • Roast daily on all production systems: Diedrich CR35, Diedrich IR12.
  • Develop working knowledge of all roasting systems (manual, mechanized, electrical, and digital).
  • Communicate daily with the Head Roaster and Roastery Operations Manager regarding order fulfillment, roasting, maintenance, and green inventory needs. 
  • Move, organize, and maintain green coffee supply.
  • Participate in cupping evaluation as directed by QC.
  • Under guidance from Head Roaster and Head of QC, learn roast theory and roast profiling as it pertains to Methodical’s roasting parameters.
  • Complete daily and weekly roaster maintenance and facility cleaning needs.
  • Participate in “huddles” to understand schedule changes, production issues, and workflow.
  • Be willing to work together for the betterment of the team.
  • Come to work with the understanding that no task is beneath you.

Qualifications

  • A passion for coffee and an understanding of our role in the coffee chain.
  • An extreme level of attention to detail and focus.
  • A desire to learn and ability to apply and share knowledge. 
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of roasting and lifting green and roasted coffee, including the ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time each day in a warehouse environment.
  • Recognize the value in repetition and the consistency of daily activities.
  • Able to lift, push and pull up to 60 pounds on a repeated basis.
  • Strong initiative and self-management skills.
  • Preferred - previous experience as a production roaster.
