Ethiopian coffee, by this point, needs no introduction. But the thing is, like any crop, it keeps growing and changing even within its legendary state. The Sawana takes traits from classic Ethiopian flavors - berry and citrus - twisting slightly toward tart raspberry and tongue-coating dark chocolate.
Where is it from?
The Guji Highland Organization in the Shakiso District is home to the Guji Oromo people, for whom coffee farming is woven deeply into the culture. It’s also home to the Sawana Farm, a member of the grassroots organization that helps it’s own farm and neighboring smallholders use organic growing methods and efficient milling practices. The Guji Highland Organization acts as its own exporter, bypassing the Ethiopian Commodities Exchange (ECX). This allows faster, simpler export. This allows more traceability of the coffee itself. This allows a more direct line from the harvest to your hands. So, hold this miracle bag of coffee in your hands and enjoy its characteristics of raspberry, dark chocolate, and lemon peel.
