Don Edimet and his wife Maria Isabel are members of La Palma y El Tucan’s Neighbor’s program—a sustainable coffee relationship model that helps small-scale farmers produce top quality coffee. Don Edimet, Maria Isabel, and their four daughters own and operator their coffee farm, La Riviera. Since joining the Neighbor’s program, they’ve noticed a significant difference in their entire farming process. The crop has increased its sustainability through no longer using fungicides and their approach to water usage. Coffee processing uses a lot of water, and conservation has become an increasing concern especially in La Riviera’s location in the biodiverse microclimate in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Maria mountain range in Colombia.

Their increased sustainability is due to their involvement with DelAgua. DelAgua produces coffees through a community–based model using the minimum amount of water in their processing, encouraging our team and the traditional coffee growers inhabiting the region to become the guardians of biodiversity.
