Finca Lugmapata is a family-run operation located in Pallatanga, Chimborazo, Ecuador. Situated between 1,650 and 2,000 masl (meters above sea level), they grow several different varieties, including: Bourbon Sidra, Typica Mejorado, Pache and Sarchimore. In 2012, the first 20,000 trees were planted and by 2022, they expect to have well over 50,000 coffee trees planted. In their first year of production, 2016, they achieved 3rd place in the Taza Dorada and in their second year of production, 2017, they achieved first place.

Due to their meticulous operation, including selecting only the ripest cherries, double wash in cherry to ensure consistency in the fermentation process, various fermentation experiments, taking great care in the washing and drying and proper storage of the coffee post-drying, these achievements are no surprise! In addition, the social component of this farm is really what makes them stand out. In order to help improve the lives of those living in and around Pallatanga, they prepared in their nursery new trees of primarily Bourbon Sidra, which were/are destined for new coffee growers in the area. The idea is to teach them how to produce high quality coffees, create sustainable businesses and improve their livelihoods. Finca Lugmapata will be purchasing the cherry from their neighbors to ensure more consistent cup quality year over year. This is our fourth year working with Finca Lugmapata and we couldn't be any more excited about their coffees and what's to come in the following years!

My perfect summer cup

Really bright and juicy (defines ‘juicy’ coffee for me) and yet balanced. I’m typically a natural-processed fan…but this was great!

FAQ

By you? Yes. By us, sadly, no. Currently, we can only ship whole-bean coffee.

We roast to order and ship Monday-Thursday. Orders are usually fulfilled the production day after they are placed (for example, orders placed on Monday will ship on Tuesday). Orders placed Thursday-Sunday will be fulfilled and shipped on Monday.

Freshness is critical to fully enjoying coffee. We roast to order to ensure your coffee is at peak freshness when it arrives. Sometimes our shipping partners experience delays due to weather, heightened demand, technical issues, pandemics, or aliens. All of which is out of our hands, except the aliens, but that's not for here.

If your package is delayed, let us know and we'll track it down and escalate its delivery. If it's delayed more than 2 weeks past the shipment date, and your order includes coffee, we'll either refund your money or ship you fresh coffee at no cost.
