Guji, Ethiopia

2,100 - 2,350 masl

A perfectly balanced, fruit forward coffee that represents the best of Guji, Ethiopia.

Yup, we spelled that right, Laayyoo is a coffee from Uraga, Guji, Ethiopia. It's named after an indigenous tree that is common in this region. Ethiopia is known for its fruit forward coffee and this one is no different. This is a naturally processed coffee where the fruit is left to dry on the bean which imparts dramatic flavors. Sounds delicious, right? Without a hint of bitterness, this coffee doesn't need any help from cream and sugar, but best enjoyed black brewed on your favorite pour over method or even in your coffee pot.

Where it's from

"Quality, traceability, and sustainability" are important values to Ture Waji, aka, "The King of Guji." Ture runs Sookoo Coffee, a washing station in Uraga, Guji, Ethiopia. Ture started Sookoo Coffee and built his first washing station in 2018. Ture grew up in the area and has a strong connection to the community and farmers. Between harvests, Ture and his team educate farmers on good agricultural practices, provide pre-harvest loans to farmers who need it, they've built schools for the children, and employ a "woman-first" policy to cultivate equality in this male dominated profession. To say that Ture is investing in his community would be an understatement. We're thankful for this level of traceability for this coffee. And we're thankful to be able to offer this coffee from Ture and the community of farmers in Uraga.

Great Ethiopian Natural Processed Coffee

This coffee is a great tasting Ethiopian natural processed coffee. The tropical and strawberry notes really come out in this coffee.

Cup of awesomeness!

Just a great coffee! No favor note over powers the others. Great cup of coffee to have on a cold Saturday morning!

By you? Yes. By us, sadly, no. Currently, we can only ship whole-bean coffee.

We roast to order and ship Monday-Thursday. Orders are usually fulfilled the production day after they are placed (for example, orders placed on Monday will ship on Tuesday). Orders placed Thursday-Sunday will be fulfilled and shipped on Monday.

Freshness is critical to fully enjoying coffee. We roast to order to ensure your coffee is at peak freshness when it arrives. Sometimes our shipping partners experience delays due to weather, heightened demand, technical issues, pandemics, or aliens. All of which is out of our hands, except the aliens, but that's not for here.

If your package is delayed, let us know and we'll track it down and escalate its delivery. If it's delayed more than 2 weeks past the shipment date, and your order includes coffee, we'll either refund your money or ship you fresh coffee at no cost.

Enjoy Methodical

We roast our coffee and select our teas to express the life it lived and to honor the skilled people who cultivate it. We’re passionate about sourcing, creating, and discovering products to elevate everyday life while strengthening connections and community.
