A lot of coffees have fruity undertones, and in some coffees that fruit reads as juicy, loud and clear. The Santa Cruz is one of these juicy fruit coffees, with a readily available cherry sweetness tempered by baking spice and a medium body.
Where is it from?
At Maria Regina Ponce de Leal’s farm in Santa Cruz, Guatemala, there are 4 permanent employees. But come harvest season, their roster can shoot up to 60 people employed. That’s because in 2017 a law was passed in Guatemala requiring employers to register all workers - even temporary ones - as employees, giving them access to social and healthcare benefits. The community has found excellent opportunities through this farm. Their combined efforts, under the leadership of farm manager Luis Pedro, have resulted in the renewal of parts of the farm. That means lot separation. That means higher quality lots. And this lot is no exception.
