Nuance you'll discover with every sip. This coffee from our friend, Jaime Lopez, has a noticeable natural sweetness and delicate tropical characteristics.
This coffee is special because Jaime is special. At nearly 80, Jaime lives his retirement on his own farm doing what he loves most, growing coffee. After a lifetime as a coffee farm manager, Jaime is still passionate about coffee cultivation and innovation. We were fortunate to meet Jaime on a recent trip to Colombia with our friends at Unblended Coffee. We were able to visit Jaime's farm, high up in the mountains, and sit with him and his wife on their front porch watching the sun set. A truly special experience.
Jaime harvests all his coffee himself, and brings them to be processed on Felipe Trujillo’s farm, Ventola. This coffee is submerged in water, and each day, for several days, he adds new cherries to this same tank, fermenting in the water and its own juices for a total of 90 hours. After this, the cherries are taken out of the tank and set out on drying beds for 4 to 6 weeks, until 11% internal moisture is reached. Then they're bagged up and shipped to our warehouse where they're ready for you.

A Decent Light Brew!
Overall, this is a good coffee for a light morning beverage! Overall a bit flat and tended a bit toward bitterness, but the melon and floral notes came through on most pourovers.

Surprisingly fruity!
I enjoyed a cup of this on drip at Methodical's cafe in The Commons. I don't typically associate Colombian coffees with strong fruit flavors, and "honeydew" as a tasting note never inspires. (It's a rather plain melon after all.) However, when I took my first sip, I was blown away. This is not a coffee of subtle fruitiness but a robust, pleasant tropical surprise. Highly recommended!
FAQ
By you? Yes. By us, sadly, no. Currently, we can only ship whole-bean coffee.
We roast to order and ship Monday-Thursday. Orders are usually fulfilled the production day after they are placed (for example, orders placed on Monday will ship on Tuesday). Orders placed Thursday-Sunday will be fulfilled and shipped on Monday.
Freshness is critical to fully enjoying coffee. We roast to order to ensure your coffee is at peak freshness when it arrives. Sometimes our shipping partners experience delays due to weather, heightened demand, technical issues, pandemics, or aliens. All of which is out of our hands, except the aliens, but that's not for here.
If your package is delayed, let us know and we'll track it down and escalate its delivery. If it's delayed more than 2 weeks past the shipment date, and your order includes coffee, we'll either refund your money or ship you fresh coffee at no cost.
